Blogpost: Current Media

I've been busy! I've got a 9 month old baby (as of today! Happy month-day little Joejoe!) and I've been trying to wrangle some personal stuff that's been on my plate for a while. I'm actually just typing this directly into the html editor because I just want to post /something/ since it's been so long and it's so hard to get back on the wagon with this kind of thing. I thought maybe the best way to get back into it is to run down what I've been doing with my free time and just share a few small thoughts on things I'm into.

Anyone that knows me knows I'm a gamer and I've been doing quite a bit. I played through Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow for October since it's my favorite Castlevania. I couldn't shake the itch even after playing it so I played through Castlevania SOTN as well and it was awesome. I really want to do a retro review for that sometime. I spent quite a bit of time with Cyberpunk 2077 on PC when it released. I originally played it on Stadia so the graphics and performance were quite limited playing it directly. I just don't have the cash to throw at Geforce Now so I couldn't replicate that style. One upside is I was able to use mods for the first time so I fixed my broken build with an infinite points reset mod and put a cheeky little skip video mod on so I could get into the game faster (essential when there's sometimes 20 minutes or less to play.) Those are the games I played and beat. Right now I'm playing Baldurs Gate 3 on PS5 (kind of,) Fantasy life on 3ds (a LOT,) Professor Layton and the Unwound Future (DS via Android) and in my free time I just started Metroid Prime Trilogy (PC via PrimeHack w/ PhazonUi.) The last one is especially exciting, Primehack is a fork of the Dolphin emulator with built in mouse and keyboard controls. PhazonUi is a cheeky addon that also adjusts the in game prompts to match your true keybinds (so the game actually shows Mouse 1 or WASD instead of 1, 2, A, B, etc.) So far I've barely made it past the tutorial but I'm getting excited to explore the planet and reaquaint myself with the Prime series. I hope the new one is good. Fantasy Life is taking up most of my time since it's my "go to bed" game. I've been going to bed a lot and the gameplay loop is so addicting I can't pull myself away. I can't wait for the new one but it'll be a long while before I get there.

This will be the last bit since this is already longer than I was planning. Reading! I've been reading through the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. It's a wonderful replacement for some fantasy books I'd rather not talk about. It's easily the most fun I've had with reading in a long time and I'm fully into it. I'm also keeping up with Berserk's new chapters. I'm very hopeful that they stay in quality but so far I'm just happy they exist. I'm also up to date with One Peice and I'm too excited to see where that goes! From there I'm re-reading Hajime no Ippo since I got completely lost and I couldn't find where I left off. I started at Ippo v Eiji and made my way from there. Astonishing how well the series can make me emotional, I'm really into it. I'm trying to read Jojo's Bizarre adventure as well but I need breaks since it's a bit more violent than I'm in the mood for most of the time. Really fun so I'm definitely into it, just taking it slow!
