github confuses me
I'm very confused by github to be honest but I don't want to use Google services or go beyond plaintext anymore. I love to organize my projects but git really rewards users who understand it and there isn't much consideration for freaks like me. That said I'm still learning and despite burning many braincells trying to get git to work in my favor I feel that it's been more good than bad. I am learning how to organize and I've taken steps to greatly reduce the number of repositories I have. I was using repos as folders for projects where I could have easily been using folders within a larger catch-all repo which is what I'm doing now. I have 9 repositories. This site is one and is the only functioning repo. Two would be the repo for my "big game idea" which is unweildy and deserving of it's own repo. I now have one repo for all my "game notes and guides" and another for "gamedev" which I'll be using to learn how to make video games and do smaller gamedev oriented projects. From there I have one main catch-all where I'm just dumping ideas and notes and et cetera of untold origin so I at least have them stored somewhere that isn't attached to a Google service. I think I need maybe one more repository for other projects but I'm gonna hold off on that and just keep them within the other repos for now and see how it works out. The rest I'll delete when I figure out whether I can live without the history for what I've already done. I think I can though. I don't want to lose the history because it's one of the things that made me really like git to begin with but honestly there isn't anything of enormous value in there. Sentimental maybe. I'm rambling now. Thanks for reading and I hope to be "on the wagon" again when it comes to making cool stuff! Wish me luck!
